"Changing the name of a road is not our priority nor we are considering such things. Maharana Pratap was really great, a great son of this great country. Millions draw inspiration from his name and life," he said.
"We can name any important road or institution after this great hero of the nation but there is no proposal of naming a road by removing someone else's name," Naidu said in a series of tweets.
"Modi government is constructing roads, national as well as rural. Government is keen on connectivity," also said.
Minister of State for External Affairs V K Singh had demanded renaming Akbar Road in the Lutyens' Zone after the doughty Mewar ruler and had written to Naidu in this regard.
Singh's demand came amid reports that Haryana government too had sought renaming of Akbar road after Maharana Pratap.
In August last year, Aurangzeb Road was renamed after former President late A P J Abdul Kalam following a push by BJP leaders, a move that had drawn criticism from several quarters.
