The minimum temperature hovered around freezing point at Manali, Bhuntar and Kalpa while Keylong in tribal Lahaul and Spiti district was coldest in the region with a low of minus 4.3 deg Celsius, MeT office officials said.
High altitude tribal areas groaned under piercing cold wave conditions with minimum temperatures varying between minus 8 and minus 12 deg Celsius.
Manali, Bhuntar and Kalpa recorded minimum temperatures at 1.5 deg while the state capital Shimla was pleasant during the night with minimum temperature recording at 9.3 deg, 4.4 deg above normal.
Nahan recorded minimum temperature at 10 deg, followed by Dharamsala and Palampur which recorded a low of 8.8 deg and 7.5 deg C respectively.
Una was hottest in the region with maximum temperature measuring at 26.4 deg while Solan recorded a high of 25.6 deg, followed by Sundernagar 24.9 deg, Nahan 22.8 deg, Dharamsala 21.8 deg, Bhuntar 20.7 deg, Shimla 20.4 deg and Kalpa 12.8 deg C, sources added.
