SAD chiefSukhbir Singh Badal Monday said the Akali Dal is united and there was no "rebellion" within it, close on the heels of its MP Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa resigning from the party posts.
Sukhbir Badal's comment comes after Senior SAD leader and Rajya Sabha MP Dhindsa resigned on Saturday as the party's secretary general and from its core committee, citing health reasons.
"The SAD is united and there is no rebellion in the party," Sukhbir said during a brief interaction with mediapersons here.
He said there was no resentment whatsoever among Akali workers.
The resignation of Dhindsa has given a reason to the ruling Congress for launching an attack on Badals, alleging that Dhindsa "sacrificed" his political career due to "misdeeds" of former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal and his son Sukhbir Badal.
Dhindsa (81), in a letter to Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal, however, said he will continue to be an "ordinary" member of the party.

Sukhbir Badal said the Congress came out with Justice Ranjit Singh Commission report on sacrilege incidents. He said the report had already been rejected by the Akali Dal as "bogus".
Earlier, Sukhbir addressed party workers of three separate assembly constituencies of Fatehgarh Sahib district to mobilize party workers for the October 7 rally at Patiala, the home turf of Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh.
The meeting in Bassi Pathana constituency was held at Bassi Pathana under the supervision of Akali leader Darbara Singh Guru while that of Fatehgarh Sahib constituency at Sirhind under the supervision of Didar Singh Bhatti.
The meeting of Amloh constituency was held under the supervision of Gurpreet Singh Raju Khanna.
While addressing party workers meeting at Sirhind, Sukhbir Badal alleged that Amarinder Singh was not accessible to people and even did not meet his party MLAs and party workers.
"Now the chief minister wants to defame Akalis on the issue of sacrilege. Infact, the Congress is responsible for atrocities of Sikhs in Punjab," he alleged.
He said the Akalis will organize a rally on October 7 at Patiala and highlight "wrong" policies of the Amarinder Singh government.
Sukhbir Badal accused the Congress of not fulfilling promises made in its election manifesto.
