No respite from cold, fog in Haryana, Punjab

There was no let-up in the cold wave sweeping across Haryana and Punjab for the last few days, and heavy fog added to the woes of the people in the region.
Amritsar in Punjab quivered at 3.3 degrees Celsius. Narnaul in Haryana braved the cold at 3.5 degrees Celsius, a MeT department official said here.
Visibility dropped below 50 metres at many places, including Chandigarh, in the two states in the morning.
Day temperatures in the region have been hovering around 12-15 degrees Celsius over the last few days.
Officials said fog delayed some trains passing through Punjab and Haryana. Flight operations were also hit.
Hisar in Haryana shuddered at 4.8 degrees Celsius. Sirsa braved the cold at 6.5 degrees Celsius. Karnal recorded a low of 6 degrees Celsius, Rohtak 6.7 degrees and Bhiwani 5.4 degrees Celsius.

Pathankot and Gurdaspur in Punjab recorded their minimums at 7 and 8.7 degrees Celsius.
Ludhiana had a low of 6.2 degrees Celsius, Faridkot 6.5 and Halwara 5.9 degrees Celsius.
Bathinda's minimum settled at 6.1 degrees Celsius.
