No respite from cold wave in HP

Heavy rain or thundershowers would occur at few places in the Una, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Solan and Sirmaur districts during the next 72 hours, the MeT office said.

Meanwhile, minimum temperatures dropped by one to two degrees to stay at zero degree Celsius at Manali, 1.8 degree in Mandi and 2.2 degree at Solan.

The state capital Shimla, Una and Bhuntar recorded a low of 3.6 degree Celsius, followed by Sundernagar 4.4 degree and Nahan 5.6 degree C, two degree below normal.

Keylong and Kalpa in tribal Lahaul and Spiti and Kinnaur districts recorded minimum temperatures at minus 6.5 degree and minus 2.6 degree C respectively while the high altitude tribal areas groaned under arctic conditions with mercury staying between minus 16 and minus 23 degree C.

Una was hottest in the region with maximum temperature at 21.6 degree Celsius while Bhunter and Sundernagar recorded a high of 19.7 degree and 19.3 degree, followed by Solan 17.4 degree, Nahan 16.6 degree, Dharamshala 16.2 degree, Shimla 13.9 degree and Kalpa 9.4 degree Celsius respectively.
