No stone-crushing activity in Maletha area: U'khand CM

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat has assured people of Maletha in Tehri district that no stone-crushing activity would be allowed in the area.
"No stone-crushing activity will be allowed in Maletha. Necessary instructions in this regard have already been issued to the District Magistrate Tehri," Rawat was quoted as saying by his media incharge Surendra Kumar today.
The chief minister has also assured people of Maletha agitating over the issue that their interests will not be allowed to suffer at any cost, Kumar said.
People of Maletha are up in arms against the state government over unabated stone crushing activities being carried out there by the mining mafia allegedly in collusion with government officials.
Leader of opposition in the state Assembly Ajay Bhatt had alleged in a statement here yesterday that as many as five stone crushers are being installed within a radius of just one km by the mining mafia in collusion with state government officials.
