Special CBI Judge O P Saini made it clear that from now onwards, such miscellaneous applications will be dismissed as no time was "spared" for him to go through the main cases.
"2,500 applications have been filed in the past two years. No time is spared for me to read the case files. I am only deciding these miscellaneous applications," the judge observed.
The observations came after Essar Group promoter Ravi Ruia, who along with seven others is facing trial in the case, sought permission to travel to Hong Kong for two days for an urgent business meeting.
The court allowed the plea after the CBI prosecutor said that he has no specific objection to it.
During the hearing, the judge observed, "In principle, I do not have any objection but it becomes difficult when the parties contest such plea and then I have to decide the matter.
