A CBI court, hearing the 2G cases, today warned against filing of miscellaneous applications which have climbed up to 2500 in the past two years leaving no time for reading case files and causing a "lot of trouble".
Special CBI Judge O P Saini made it clear that from now onwards, such miscellaneous applications will be dismissed as no time was "spared" for him to go through the main cases.
"2,500 applications have been filed in the past two years. No time is spared for me to read the case files. I am only deciding these miscellaneous applications," the judge observed.
"I am in a lot of trouble with these kinds of applications. For the past one week, I have decided around 25 applications. I have made it clear that from now onwards all such applications will be dismissed," he said during the hearing in a case arising out of the probe into the 2G spectrum scam.
The observations came after Essar Group promoter Ravi Ruia, who along with seven others is facing trial in the case, sought permission to travel to Hong Kong for two days for an urgent business meeting.
The court allowed the plea after the CBI prosecutor said that he has no specific objection to it.
The court, while allowing Ruia's plea, noted in its order that "the application (seeking permission to travel abroad) was listed for tomorrow but it was taken up today on the request of counsel appearing for accused citing urgency".
During the hearing, the judge observed, "In principle, I do not have any objection but it becomes difficult when the parties contest such plea and then I have to decide the matter.
