Central government servants under suspension, issued charge sheets or facing judicial proceedings on charges of grave misconduct will not be eligible for taking voluntary retirement, as per new rules notified by the Centre.
The Ministry of Personnel has amended provisions of Fundamental Rule and notified Fundamental (First Amendment) Rules, 2014.
According to the new rules, it shall be open to the appropriate authority to withhold permission to a government servant if the he or she is under suspension or if a charge sheet has been issued and the disciplinary proceedings against him or her are pending.
A permission seeking voluntary retirement may be withheld if an employee is facing judicial proceedings on charges which may amount to grave misconduct, they said.
There are about 50 lakh central government employees.
