The CBS drama, written by Caitlin Parrish and Erica Weiss, will explore the lives of three families that are connected to a shooting incident in which a white cop in Chicago accidentally kills a black doctor, Deadline reported.
The series will by directed by Victoria Mahoney.
Wyle, 46, will portray Daniel Calder, a dedicated high school teacher mourning the loss of his innocent African-American husband who was killed by the officer.
Aliyah Royale will play Jira, Calder's adopted daughter in the pilot.
Noel Fisher, Michael Patrick Thornton and Emayatzy Corinealdi also star.
