The BJP in Uttar Pradesh today demanded that the CBI should probe the role of former and present officials of Noida Authority in connection with the recovery of cash and jewellery from Noida engineer-in-chief Yadav Singh's home during an Income Tax raid.
"Officers posted in Noida Authority should also be included in the CBI probe as they had helped Singh", BJP state president Laxmikant Bajpai told reporters.
Singh was suspended after Rs 10 crore cash and around 2 kg gold were recovered in the raid at his residence last November last year.
Bajpai accused both BSP and SP of helping Singh in amassing wealth during his posting and also demanded an inquiry into the role of six serving officers of the authority.
The Supreme Court-constituted SIT on black money had recently recommended that the probe against Singh be handed over to the CBI.
Uttar Pradesh government has also constituted a judicial commission headed by retired justice A N Verma to probe charges of irregularities, misuse of post and corruption against Singh. The commission has been given six months to complete the probe.
