A tree plantation drive was launched by District Magistrate Kumar Ravikant Singh during which several saplings were planted by district officials and school managements.
Besides rally by school children across the city, the district administration also organised a Vikas Rath rally which was taken through various villages.
Children and elders were seen flying colourful kites through out the day.
NOIDA Chairman Rama Raman along with Yamuna Expressway Authority CEO P C Gupta hoisted the Indian flag at an Independence Day function for the authority officials.
Officers found delaying or passing the buck to other departments will not be spared. Strict disciplinary action would be taken against them, he said.
