A tree plantation drive, felicitation programmes for freedom fighters and several kite flying events marked the Independence Day celebrations in Noida.
A tree plantation drive was launched by District Magistrate Kumar Ravikant Singh during which several saplings were planted by district officials and school managements.
Besides rally by school children across the city, the district administration also organised a Vikas Rath rally which was taken through various villages.
Children and elders were seen flying colourful kites through out the day.
NOIDA Chairman Rama Raman along with Yamuna Expressway Authority CEO P C Gupta hoisted the Indian flag at an Independence Day function for the authority officials.
Issuing directions to officials to redress public grievances at the shortest possible time, Raman said it is only when citizens have all amenities that they are able to feel freedom in the real sense.
Officers found delaying or passing the buck to other departments will not be spared. Strict disciplinary action would be taken against them, he said.
