Non-loanee farmers in Punjab can take PMFBY cover through CSC

Non-loanee farmers in 5,000 villages of Haryana can now avail the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) through Common Service Centres (CSCs), an official release said today.
The Haryana Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Department has launched this facility for the convenience of farmers. Loanee farmers will enter the scheme through banks, the release said here.
It said that 312 CSCs have been established in all the villages of Fatehabad district.
These would help the non-loanee farmers in getting their crop insurance under PMFBY. For this, farmers would not have to pay any kind of fee to the CSC besides the fixed premium for crops which Rs 578.70 per acre for paddy, Rs 558.47 for per acre for cotton, Rs 271.14 per acre for bajra and Rs 218.53 per acre for maize, the release said.
With a view to secure crops from natural calamities, farmers can get their Kharif crops insured by contacting the in-charge of the nearest CSCs by July 31, it said.
