Non-Manipuri shot dead in Manipur, one body found
Press Trust of India Imphal A non-Manipuri labourer was shot dead while the body of another, both hailing from neighbouring Assam, was found in two separate incidents in Imphal West district of Manipur, police said today.
Unidentified gunmen shot dead the labourer at Muyanglangjing village under Lamshang police station on Thursday, police said.
In another incident, body of Md Aijang was fished out from a pond at Mantripukhri area on the outskirts of the city yesterday.
The body has been sent to Regional Institute of Medical Science and Hospital for post mortem.
Aijang was a labourer in the construction of new secretariat building at Mantripukhri area. He was seen working till 8 PM and went missing thereafter.
In stepped up attacks against non-Manipuris, two of them died when miscreants hurled grenades at Uripok area of Imphal last month, while in May, five others were injured in a grenade blast at a bakery shop in the outskirts of the city.
