Normal life was hit by a 12-hour BTAD bandh called by the militant NDFB (Songbijit) faction today demanding release of an arrested person.
No untoward incident has been reported so far.
Offices, markets, shops, educational institutions and banks remained closed in the four districts - Kokrajhar, Baksa, Udalguri and Chirang - comprising the Bodoland Territorial Autonomous District (BTAD), official sources said.
Vehicles, including long distance buses, remained off the roads, the sources said, adding, trains though plied as usual.
The anti-talk insurgent outfit demanded the unconditional release of the Indo-Mongolian Youth Front president Parameswar Brahma arrested last week for his alleged direct involvement with the NDFB(S).
Despite denying that Brahma had any links with the underground outfit, the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (S) called the bandh demanding his release, the sources added.
