The maximum temperature in capital Delhi was 34.6 degrees celsius, one degree more than normal and the minimum was 28.6 degrees celsius, two degrees more than usual. The city received 0.8 mm of rain till 8:30 AM.
In Uttar Pradesh, swollen rivers in the eastern districts have sent alarm bells ringing, forcing people in several villages to seek shelter at safer places.
Ghaghra and Saryu in Gonda and Ayodhya, flowing above the danger mark, have forced residents of about over a dozen villages to rush to safer places and some 2,000 people have taken shelter on the roadsides.
Flood chowkis in these areas have been alerted.
A central Water Commission report here said the Ganga was showing a rising trend from Kanpur to Ballia while Ram Ganga was also rising at Moradabad.
River Sharda at Palia Kalan, Ghaghra at Elgin Bridge, Ayodhya and Turtipar, Rapti at Balrampur were flowing above the danger mark.

These rivers were flowing just under the danger mark at a number of other places, sources said.
The Met office said monsoon has been normal over the state resulting in rain and thundershowers at many places over eastern UP and at a few places over western UP.
In Uttarakhand, the ITBP has begun erecting a 'rope bridge' across the Bhagirathi river in Gangotri area to resume communication links in the rain-ravaged state. MORE
