Northern Army Commander Lt General Ranbir Singh today visited army formations and units deployed for security of ongoing Amarnath yatra and took stock of the arrangements.
"Continuing with his visit to the Valley, the Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Ranbir Singh accompanied by the Chinar Corps Commander Lt Gen A K Bhatt visited the Army formations and units deployed for the Amarnath Yatra and took stock of the security and administrative arrangements for the ongoing Yatra," an army official said.
The Army commander stressed upon the need for close coordination with civil administration to ensure a smooth and efficient conduct of the Yatra. He appreciated the synergy being maintained amongst all security agencies for conduct of the Amarnath Yatra.
Lt Gen Singh also visited forward posts in the frontier district of Baramulla where he was briefed by the officers on ground regarding the operational and logistics preparedness.
Commending the exemplary professionalism and high morale of the troops deployed along the Line of Control (LoC), Lt Gen Singh stressed upon the need to maintain sustained vigil to thwart any attempts of infiltration from across the border.
The Army Commander also reinforced the need to be prepared to meet emerging security challenges effectively.

Later, Lt Gen Singh called on Governor N N Vohra at Raj Bhavan here and shared his views and experiences of the tour he undertook in the valley.
Last week, the Governor, during a meeting with Lt Gen Singh, had called for more cohesive civil-police-army collaboration in anti-terrorist operations.
