Norway has evinced interest to collaborate with West Bengal in the fisheries sector in the near future, a state government official today said.
"Norway has expressed an interest in collaborating with the state on technical knowledge in fishery and investment in this sector," state fischery secretary P K Mishra said on the sidelines of an interactive session with Norweigian Ambassador to India Nils Ragnar Kamsvag at ICC.
The ambassador said Norway was keen on investment opportunities in this sector in India.
The Scandinavian country is a big exporter of Salmon to various countries, including India.
Another area of collaboration could be LNG terminals where Norway has in-depth knowledge.
Kolkata Port Trust has shown interest in attracting Norwegian companies in setting up LNG terminals here.
Norway is one of the big investors in India with its sovereign wealth fund, which is the biggest in the world with total investment of USD 13-14 billion.
