Trinamool Congress MP Anupam Hazra today said he is not getting "enough space" to work for the people of his constituency, three days after TMC minister Manjul Krishna Thakur quit the party over its 'whimsical' ways.
Hazra, an MP from Bolpur in Birbhum district, said that he is finding it hard to work towards fulfilling people's aspirations in his constituency.
"I am not getting enough space to work to fulfill the demands of people of my constituency. The state leadership is supportive but with the district partyworkers there is a difference of opinion. Their priorities for the people and my priorities are not matching," Hazra told PTI over phone from Bolpur.
He said that had he got a little more space to work, he would have performed better in his duties as an MP.
"I want to visit my constituency more freely but what I want to do and what they (district party leaders) want is different," Hazra said.
However, the 32-year-old MP scotched speculation of any revolt against his party.

"I am not a politically ambitious person and I hope that the issue will be resolved soon," Hazra, an assistant professor in the Department of Social Work at Visva Bharati university, said.
He had issues with the party in the past and recently his name did not figure in the list of invitees of 'Shramik Mela' organised by the state government.
On January 15, Trinamool Congress minister Manjul Krishna Thakur had quit the party, accusing it of functioning in a 'whimsical' way, and joined the BJP.
