Tamil Nadu Agricultural University Vice-chancellor, K Ramasamy today said that it was not only knowledge, but also skills that need to be 'built' for learners of Open and Distance Learning (ODL).
Speaking at an International conference on ODL on "sustainable development in Agriculture," Ramasamy insisted on the importance of module based learning, which existed in developed countries.
More than 200 delegates from across the country and 10 delegated from abroad are participating in the two-day conference.
Inaugurating the conference, Vice-Chancellor of Tamil Nadu Open University (TNOU), Chennai, Bhaskaran said with shrinking natural resources, the available agricultural technologies should be appropriately transferred to farming community.
Dr. R. Gopichandran, Director, Vigyan Prasar, Department of Science and Technology, Noida said communicating science to non-scientists was the biggest challenge being faced in India. There was the need of building scientific temper among the common man, he said.
