Note ban: Hyderabad civic body goes for cashless transactions

The local civic body today initiated cashless transactions to overcome the difficulties caused by demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) enabled payment of taxes through myghmc mobile app, swipe machines, citizen service centres and RTGS/NEFT of banks to promote cashless transactions, a release from the civic body said.
The bill collectors of GHMC would be given swipe machines to collect taxes, it said.
Mayor B Rammohan said efforts would be made to increase online transactions from the present 12 per cent to 100 per cent.
