"There has been no action against legal slaughter houses in Uttar Pradesh. Action has been taken against illegal abattoirs. Why should a government allow something illegal to continue? The so called secular parties are trying to give a communal colour to this.
"It is an administrative action against illegal activity and not against any community," he said.
The crackdown on illegal abattoirs was one of the first decisions taken by Adityanath after assuming office on March 19. The decision has kicked up a political storm with a section of opposition parties accusing the BJP of pushing its "communal agenda" in Uttar Pradesh.
"Both TMC and Left governments have ignored the minorities during their regimes. The minorities have been used for pursuing vote bank and communal politics. If you want to see what the word development means you should go to the BJP-ruled states like Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh where Muslims are the most well off communities," he said.
Ghosh, who was addressing a programme of BJP Minority Morcha, appealed to leaders of the Muslim community to give BJP a chance in Bengal.
