"The notice issued by the National Women's Commission chief to Parameshwara is totally unwarranted and improper and has been blindly done to gain political mileage and please the BJP government who nominated her," KPCC Legal cell Chairman C M Dhananjaya said in a statement here.
NCW chairperson Lalitha Kumaramangalam had issued summons to Parameshwara on January 3 over his statement on the mass molestation of women in Bengaluru on New Year's Eve and demanded that he apologised to women of for such remarks.
"It has tarnished the image and respect of Parameswara in society," he said.
Dhananjaya also said it is for the Karnataka State Women's Commission to take stock of the situation, if such an incident has taken place.

"I hereby demand that you should at once recall the said notice issued to Parameshwara and tenderan unconditional apology for having issued the baseless notice, failing which action as contemplated under law will be initiated against you for defamation," he said.
