"A notification has been issued and it has been received by the Lokayukta office today," Under Secretary A K Singhal told PTI today.
"According to the procedure, an inquiry involves several legalities, including taking affidavits from the parties concerned.
"But after the notification, this will not be required," Singhal said.
In June, the Lokayukta had asked the state government to issue such a notification.
"As it is a big inquiry involving various departments and non-public servants, I have requested the government to issue a notification under the UP Lokayukta Act," Lokayukta Justice N K Mehrotra had said.
He had also requested the government to provide an agency for assistance which has police powers.
The request was made after the state government asked the Lokayukta to probe alleged financial irregularities in purchase and supply of sandstone used in construction of various memorials and parks in Lucknow and Noida.
