Acting on a tip-off that criminals had assembled in Islamnagar in Kapali, a police team raided the locality last night, Superintendent of Police, Madan Mohan Lal said.
Addressing a press conference at Adityapur police station, Lal said the police have arrested Md Kadim Khan, his brother Sadam and four others following the raid while two others, Md Asraf and Afsar Ali, managed to flee.
Police have recovered eight fire arms including a pistol, eight live cartridges, five mobile phones and a motorcycle from their possession.
Two persons, Bajrang Sonkar and Chotu Ram, were injured when Kadim and his associated hurled bombs and opened fire on them, he said.
Kadim and a rival gang led by Majla were engaged in a gang war in the locality for past several months to maintain supremacy in the area, he said adding Jharkhand and Odisha Police were in search of Kadim in about two dozen criminal cases in the two states.
