A group of student designers from Rohtak in Haryana have fashioned innovative and eco-friendly designs possible using waste as raw materials.
Textile design graduates from the State Institute of Design, State University of Performing and Visual Arts, showcased innovative designs today at an exhibition here.
Themed 'Sustainable Design - an initiative towards green design', the exhibition showcased a variety of products including shrugs and bags made from polythene sacks, waste paper bins, card holders and pen stands made out of discarded mobile bodies.
Jackets and hot pants made from the collar and cuffs of an used shirt and dining lenin from fabric scraps and polythene sacks were also included.
"The collection is about rethinking and re-engaging existing paradigms to stimulate new futures. Uniquely it does this through a focus on the multiple perspectives of Design, Engineering and Science and their engagement with innovation and sustainability," Wajahat Hussain, faculty at the institute told PTI.
