A Japanese company has developed a new humanoid robot that can be programmed to perform various tasks - including making coffee.
The robot named Rapiro works with a Linux-based PC known as Raspberry Pi, allowing the user to programme the machine to do many things, such as manage calendars or tell the weather.
Raspberry Pi makes the software easily customisable for users who are familiar with the technology, 'Mashable' reported.
Rapiro can also be fitted with a camera to give it the ability to gather and store visual data. The robot has 12 "servo motors," which help it with mobility.
The idea behind the robot project is for a beginner to get into robotics and for an expert to create higher utility through Raspberry Pi, the report said.
People have shown strong interest in Rapiro. With over 46 days left in its Kickstarter campaign, the robot has already crossed its funding goal. Interested backers can get the full kit for a USD 350.
