Volkswagon Motorsport also announced the line-up of 20 young drivers, who will compete for the championship.
The new car has a 1.4 litre, direct injection, four cylinder engine and is a two wheel drive. It has also been upgraded to a Direct Shift Gearbox in comparison to the previous years manual gearbox.
"The new technology will make the race more faster and will teach our young Indian drivers a lesson about the things to come in the future," said head of JK Tyre's motorsport division, Sanjay Sharma.
"You see Sailesh (Bolisetti), while he was competing in India was way ahead of everybody but he couldn't maintain the same streak on foreign circuit. The shift from the diesel to petrol engine will help our drivers get prepare for the international competition," he added.
The first race will be flagged-off on July 7 at the Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore.
Besides Coimbatore the race will also be held in MMRT, Chennai, while one round of the season will be hosted at the newly constructed Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida.
The participants have been slotted under three categories -- Junior, Pro and Master. More
