National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) today appointed FIME, an advanced testing and certification provider, for certification of card payment scheme - RuPay.
FIME will help NPCI in setting up EMV-based certification board for RuPay, which will be operational from March 2014, a statement said.
FIME will define the certification specification, lab set-up, test plan specification and test tools, and operate the certification board for RuPay, it said.
"Adhering to RuPay, an EMV payment scheme will ensure that the products achieve the required functional and security standards and perform as intended, once live in the marketplace. This level of compliance is vital to ensure product interoperability and security optimisation," Prakash Sambandam, head, FIME India, said.
FIME will also be involved in setting up the certification process that includes administrative as well as business processes.
