The Naga Peoples Front (NPF) has overcome the onslaught of "party-less government" to march forward with a renewed vigour, said the party's president Shurhozelie Liezietsu while addressing a coordination meeting of NPF 9th Kohima Town Assembly Constituency here today.
"NPF was in power for 15 years and people are now talking about too much corruption, which we are also responsible because we were part of the government," Liezietsu said.
Without taking names, he said now that the bad elements and corrupted leaders who had brought bad name to our party has left us, we should take the opportunity to make a new beginning.
Leaders who want to spend much time in Kaziranga for power mongering, paralysing the functioning of the government, can never fulfil their election promises of development and progress, he said, while also questioning can we expect any kind of development from this group of people?
In order to bring about a new beginning for the NPF Party, we will depend on the new breed of politicians, who will take up the responsibility of planning for the welfare of the state and work towards making Nagaland a self-reliant state.
Liezietsu also maintained that Naga people needs political education and it is up to the leaders of the party to spread awareness at the grassroots level about the corrupt leaders.
Liezietsu also said that NPF is moving ahead with some preparations for the ensuing state general election.
We have already constituted the Election Manifesto Committee with NPF Secretary General and MP Rajya Sabha K G Kenye as Convenor and if any party leader and member feel that it would be good to include some points in it, they can submit the proposals in writing, he said.
NPF Secretary General K G Kenye in his address encouraged the Party workers not to be disheartened with the ongoing crisis with the party.
