"It is clarified that the entire ammunition is directly imported by NRAI without involving any agent or middle man as a dealer and NRAI also ensures that no commission is paid to any person involved into the entire process of import of Arms and Ammunition. An undertaking is obtained from all the suppliers to this effect," NRAI president Raninder Singh said in a statement.
"NRAI dismisses all the allegations which are totally false, motivated and baseless. There is a purchase committee in place headed by the President, NRAI with 6 other members and all purchase/import/sales activities are approved, regulated and monitored by this committee."
The media had reported that the "nexus has flourished because everything in this sport is imported and profits are unimaginable".
The bulk quantities are being imported by NRAI and its affiliates but where they go after landing in the country no one knows, as shooters keep complaining about shortage of ammunition, it further claimed.
But the NRAI had its own clarification.
"As regards shortage of ammunition, it is clarified that there is no shortage of ammunition for the training and participation by the shooters and adequate quantity of ammunition is made available to each Shooter/Member for their training and participation in various competitions.
"It is wrong to assume that there is any shortage of ammunition for legitimate purposes which are training and participation. There is no question of charging any extra money from them as only handling charges are levied on the cost price.
