NRL starts producing Special Boiling Point Spirit

Numaligarh Refinery's first tank carrying 12,000 litres of 'Special Boiling Point Spirit' (SBPS), has been flagged off recently.
The refinery has started production of SBPS-a special industrial product, enhancing its product slate further, an official release said here today.
The first tank truck carrying 12,000 litres of SBPS was flagged off on Friday last from the Numaligarh Refinery Marketing Terminal by NRL Managing Director P Padmanabhan.
Earlier in July, NRL started marketing of another special Industrial product - 'Mineral Turpentine Oil' (MTO).
NRL is the only refinery in North East producing these industrial products.
SBPS and MTO are both used extensively used as raw materials in the manufacture of paints and find application as thinner for varnish, paint and printing inks formulation where quick drying is required, solvent for processing polishes, cleaning and water proofing compounds.

Production of these special industrial products at NRL will help paint industries in the region in terms of ready availability and lower costs, the release added.
