India's leading stock Exchange National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Education department of Gujarat have signed an MoU for introduction of financial literacy course in schools and colleges.
"NSE believes that the road to fastest financial inclusion is possible through a continuous education process. Like in many other states of India, we are sure that this MoU will play a pivotal role towards understanding the complex financial markets and its products. We thank the Government of Gujarat for enabling this," NSE MD, CEO Chitra Ramkrishna said in a statement here today.
The programme also envisages the use of satellite-based teaching methodology across the state.
The course aims at imparting basic financial knowledge at a very early stage so that children grow up to become financially responsible citizens with a secured financial future, the statement said.
The signing was done in the presence of Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Gujarat Chief Minister Anandi Patel at the ongoing Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors Summit at Gandhinagar.
