Government institutions that are imparting education and training programmes will have to comply with National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF) from 2017 onwards in order to get grants, a minister said today.
"We have decided that government institutions will not get grant if they are not NSQF compliant," Union Minister for Skills Development & Entrepreneurship Rajiv Pratap Rudy said at a Ficci conference here.
The government is also deliberating on making NSQF certification compulsory for those aspiring to enter government services, the minister said.
The NSQF organises qualifications according to a series of levels of knowledge, skills and aptitude. These levels are defined in terms of learning outcomes which the learner must possess.
The qualification framework is beneficial to schools, vocational education and training providers, higher education institutes, accrediting authorities as well as industry and its representative bodies.
