Over a dozen NSUI activists were detained during a protest march against the Delhi University administration on North Campus here today.
The student activists were detained as they broke a police barricade and tried to march towards the office of the vice-chancellor to submit a memorandum.
The student outfit demanding hostel accommodation, free metro and bus passes, posts for girls in students union, free Wi-Fi, common fee structure and other facilities for students held a public meeting criticising the varsity administration.
After the meeting, they tried to march towards the VC's office. Police used water cannon to prevent the student activists from marching ahead.
"Over 20 NSUI activists including national secretary Vivekannd Pathak and Delhi state president Vikas Chhikara, were detained by the police and taken to Maurice Nagar police station," said vice-president of the outfit Kumar Raja, who led the protest march.
The detained student leaders were later released by the police in the evening.
