NSUI today began a nation-wide signature campaign in colleges and universities to build pressure for passage of six anti-graft bills amid Rahul Gandhi's focus on creating a framework to fight corruption.
The two-day signature campaign beginning today will culminate into a fast on January 30, the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The campaign will end with the submission of a memorandum to MPs for creating an anti-corruption framework.
Members of the Congress' student wing National Students' Union of India had come together at Jantar Mantar for the 'Students Stand Against Corruption' programme on December 30 last year to thank Rahul for ensuring the passage of Lokpal bill and advocate the passage of six other anti-graft measures.
The legislations include Amendment to Prevention of Corruption Act, Judicial Standards and Accountability Bill, Whistleblowers Protection Bill, Public Procurement Bill, Citizens' Charter Bill and a bill on Timely Delivery of Services Through Electronic Means.
"Students will submit a memorandum to all MPs to ensure the passage of these bills in the upcoming extended winter session of Parliament from February 5," an NSUI release said.
