National Students' Union of India (NSUI) has passed a resolution in its national executive here demanding a ban on onshore and offshore casinos in Goa and the gambling activity allowed on their premises.
The student wing of Congress also passed a resolution to fight against the alleged attempts of BJP and RSS to destroy the social fabric of the country in its three-day conclave concluded on Wednesday.
"The meeting passed educational, economic and political resolutions that include the fight against BJP and RSS' deliberate attempts of trying to destroy the social fabric of India," NSUI president Amrita Dhawan told reporters last night.
She alleged that the BJP-led state government had gained notoriety for its frequent U-turns on the promises made to people.
"One of the major poll promises of BJP during the 2012 elections was abolition of casinos in Goa. That has not happened. On the contrary, we can see BJP adding to the list of casinos," she alleged.
"We demand that casinos should be banned in order to keep the issues arising out of gambling addiction under control. We also resolve to fight against casinos till they are banned," Dhawan said.

The NSUI president claimed that the growing menace of drugs was another important issue as it had brought students on the "verge of distress".
Dhawan alleged drugs are in "public circulation and consumption" in the coastal state.
"The authorities are doing absolutely nothing about it (to check spread of drugs). We resolve to continue fighting against drugs till they are completely wiped out of the state," she said.
Dhawan alleged that there was a lot of "unrest and anger" amongst the students' communities in the country in the last two years over "BJP and RSS' attempts to take over educational institutions".
"As the country's largest and most responsible student organisation, we are concerned about the infiltration of RSS' ideology into the education system by the ruling BJP government aggressively," she claimed.
