Led by its president Roji M John, activists of National Students Union of India (NSUI) staged a march towards the ministry's building during which they shouted slogans and raised placards that listed "drawbacks" of CBCS.
"The autonomy of educational institutions is being challenged and CBCS is being imposed without considering the views of students and teachers," Roji said.
He also alleged that there was no mechanism in place to implement CBCS and yet it was being imposed on students.
The NSUI memorandum accused the HRD Ministry of introducing CBCS in an attempt to implement its "hidden agenda" of "total control" by taking away the autonomy from educational institutions and also to make way for "privatisation of education.
