The increase in the number of polling stations is due to the rationalisation under National Electoral Roll Purification (NERP) 2016, launched by Election Commission of India, Gupta said.
At the time of general elections of Haryana Vidhan Sabha in 2014, the total number of regular polling stations in the state was 16,129. Now, after rationalisation and discussion with political parties, 891 new polling stations have been created, he said.
