Nurse alleges gang-rape, 2 arrested

A 33-year-old nurse, working in New Delhi, was allegedly gang-raped and kept in illegal confinement by four persons at a village in Mansa district in Punjab, police said today.
Four persons have been booked in this connection, police said, adding, two out of the four accused have been arrested while two others were still at large.
The culprits identified as Rajbir and Lucky, both in their mid-20s, were arrested based on a complaint filed by the nurse yesterday, Mansa Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bhupinder Singh Khatra today said.
According to the complaint, the woman was gang-raped, kept in illegal confinement and was robbed in Gurne village near Budhladha town on Monday.
However, the woman refused to undergo medical examination and did not make any statement before the judicial magistrate which is mandatory in rape cases, the SSP said, adding, she has also locked her mobile phone with a password and is not willing to tell her address.
A case in this connection has been registered against four persons, he said.

According to the SSP, the woman claimed that she was working as a nurse in Safdarjung hospital in the national capital.
The woman had come to Budhladha town along with one Davinder Kaur of village Hasanpur.
When she alighted at Budhlada Railway Station, Davinder's brother-in-law, Rajbir allegedly took her to a village tube well shed on a scooter, police said.
The woman in her complaint also alleged that there were three other girls besides two youths and a 65-year-old man at the shed.
She was gang-raped by four persons, and was dumped near Budhlada Railway Station next day, the complaint said.
Police is investigating the matter.
