Being part of the big budget Tollywood drama Yoddha, where she frolicks with the progatonist Dev, popular Tollywood actor Nusrat Jahan feels the golden era of 70s and 80s are back to lure the puja-wearied pandal hunter to the cinema hall.
Nusrat, whose Khiladi last year opposite Ankush was a blockbuster hit, was speaking on the sidelines of a contest 'Chatpate Poribar Contest' where she was the 'face'.
"With all genres of films doing equally well despite release during the Pujas ,from Jeetda's Bachchan to Dev's Yodddha where I essay a vamp, to a totally different genre film Chotuskone by Srijit Mukherjee, it's a encouraging sign that puja songs and puja numbers will from now on be accompanied by puja films again," Nusrat said.
The Khoka 420 actor, who recalls how father would drag her to different pandals during childhood,, said "Besides watching films and listening to music, Pandal Hopping has been perfected as an art by the Bengali puja revellers for years.
May be my family would have been the recipeint of the 'Aashirvaad Chatpate Poribar' crown - me and my father - had such awards for the intrepid puja reveller family been in vogue those days. I compliment the organisers for honoring the ordinary family man, who walks and walks for mile just to satiate his urge to see new pandal artworks, new idols and new concepts. It is unique of every Bengalee."
As part of the campaign, targetting the odd eight lakh people to heavyweight minister Partha Chatterjee's Naktala Udayan Sangha puja, the partici[pants would be encouraged to visit as many pandals as they can and collect token from stalls and based on the highest number visits will be getting prizes from LED Tv to double-door fridges and microwave.
"We have also roped in Yoddha-actor Mimi Chalroborty, Chotuskone-sensation Payel Sarkar as other 'faces oif the campaign for some other mega budget puja venues. The results will be made known as the festivities drew to a close," an ITC Aashirvaad spokesman said.
