The New Zealand Fashion Tech has entered into an MoU with Sathyamangalam-based Bannari Amman Institute of Technology, to share the resources in fashion designs and marketing of the products.
Accordingly, 15 Students from New Zealand will visit Doddampalayam in Erode district to learn the aspects of weaving of silk saris and undergo training at BIT in production of textile, garments and accessories, S V Balasubramaniam, Chairman, BIT, said in a release here today.
BIT has also given proposal to send Indian students to New Zealand to study about the recent trends in fashion designs, he said.
As New Zealand has not enough textile industries to utilise its existing vibrant fashion designing sector, it would be a challenge for the students to study about hand-woven silks and recreate high fashion garments in a western context, Kevin Smith, Managaing Director, NZFT, said.
