The newest member of the US first family is a little girl (black Portuguese Water Dog) named Sunny. She is joining Bo, a male of the same breed, as "first pet".
"Sunny is the perfect little sister for Bo - full of energy and very affectionate - and the First Family picked her name because it fit her cheerful personality," said a post on the White House blog.
President Barack Obama and his family welcomed the playful new addition to the White House, the post said.
The breed is hypoallergenic, meaning the dogs won't affect first daughter 12-year-old Malia's canine allergies.
So now, in addition to helping with those official duties, Bo takes on the important role of big brother!
On Twitter today, first lady Michelle Obama sent a photo of the new addition to the family.
She was born in Michigan, and is just over a year old, the White House said. Sunny's coat is completely black - unlike Bo, who has black and white "tuxedo" markings on his chest and feet.
