OBC women not entitled to benefits in migrated state: Govt

Women hailing from Other Backward Classes (OBC) are not entitled for benefits in the state they have migrated to, Lok Sabha was informed today.
In his reply to a question, Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Krishna Pal Gurjar said that the prescribed authority may issue OBC certificate to a person, who has migrated from another State on the production of a genuine certificate issued to his father by the prescribed authority of the State of her father's origin.
"However, she is not entitled for the benefits in the State she has migrated," the minister said.
In order to get benefits of reservation for employment in Delhi Government and admission in Delhi Government Educational Institutions, one has to be in the State Government list of OBCs and subject to fulfilling other criteria laid down by the Delhi Government, he added.
The Minister also said that the OBC status of a female applicant is determined keeping in view the status of her father and not her husband.
