Obstructions near RTR flyover removed: HC told

The Public Works Department today told Delhi High Court that the obstruction created due to widening of the road near Rao Tula Ram (RTR) flyover to ease vehicular congestion on a stretch of the Outer Ring Road here has been removed.
A bench of Chief Justice G Rohini and Justice Jayant Nath was informed by Delhi government's standing counsel Raman Duggal that 90 per cent of road widening near RTR flyover is completed and remaining would be done in the next 2-3 months.
"Though about 90 per cent of road widening work of Outer Ring Road from Subroto Park to R R Hospital has been completed long back and balance work will be completed within a period of two and half months," Delhi government's counsel said.
The government gave the information in a status report in the wake of the court's July 1 order asking what action it has taken after permitting PWD to remove 51 trees from Subroto Park to RTR flyover to widen the road.
The court was also told that poles, boards and bus stop coming in the alignment of proposed widening work of the road have been shifted.
PWD through advocate Duggal also said the decision that out of 51 trees involved in the road widening process, 11 would be transplanted from the road side by deploying technology available with PWD.

The court was a hearing a PIL seeking direction to the PWD to complete the road widening work immediately.
Petitioner Vishal Raj Sehijpal told the court that while poles and bus stops, which were hindering the road widening, have been removed, the debris were still lying there. He also said the road has been made in between the trees.
The court has posted the matter for September 23 after the Delhi government's counsel told the court that no inconvenience will be caused to the public in future.
