The open defecation-free (ODF) status claimed by several civic bodies in the national capital has been referred to the ministry of urban affairs for third-part verification, according to the latest economic survey released today.
"The New Delhi Municipal Council has been declared and certified ODF city on November 24, 2016 and re-certified on May 24, 2017 for six months. The Delhi Cantonment Board has been certified as ODF on December 15, 2017. EDMC (East Delhi Municipal Corporation) and SDMC (South Delhi Municipal Corporation) were declared as ODF on October 2, 2017," the survey said.
The Economic Survey of Delhi 2017-18 said the matter has been referred to the Union Ministry of Hosing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) for third party verification or certification, it said.
The North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) was declared ODF on December 31, 2017, the survey said.
Also, as per the Master Plan of Delhi (MPD) 2021, unauthorised regularised colonies infill is projected to be 15 per cent, the survey said.
The master plan mandates in-situ slum rehabilitation, including using land as a resource for community and private sector participation, in order to prevent growth of slums, mandatory provision of EWS housing/slum rehabilitation in all group housing to the extent, minimum 15 per cent of the proposed FAR (floor area ratio) on the plot.
The Master Plan envisages that for in-situ rehabilitation of JJ bastis, a maximum of 40 per cent land can be used as a resource and minimum 60 per cent land has to be used for in-situ redevelopment.
