Odisha Assembly adjourned sine-die

The winter session of the Odisha Assembly was today adjourned sine-die, 13 days ahead of its schedule.
Speaker Pradip Kumar Amat announced adjournment of the session for an indefinite period after government chief whip Amar Prasad Satpathy moved a motion in this regard.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra, BJP legislature party leader K V Singhdeo and other members were present during the announcement.
During this session, the House witnessed debates on the farmers issue and Mahanadi water dispute between Odisha and Chhattishgarh.
A House Committee was set up under the chairmanship of the chief minister to place Odisha's demand before Prime Minister Narendra Modi for setting up a tribunal to resolve the Mahanadi water dispute.
The opposition Congress and BJP also raked farmers issue several times and halted proceeding of the House. The ruling BJD members raised the issue over Mahanadi, Polavaram and the minimum support price (MSP) of paddy.
The Assembly passed five bills during this session.
The session, which commenced on November 28, was scheduled to conclude on December 30, 2017.
