Deputy Speaker Sanad Marandi announced adjourment of session sine die, only after nine sitting days against a total of 24 working days.
Government Chief Whip Ananta Das had moved a motion in this regard even as the oppostion Congress and BJP objected to untimely end of the session.
In the winter session of the Assembly, only four bills including the Odisha Appropriation (No.2) Bill, 2016 were passed and discussion on one adjournment motion was held.
The session had commenced from December 1 and was scheduled to end on December 31.
BJP Legislature Party leader K V Singhdeo also protested the decision and alleged that the government ran away from the assembly fearing opposition attack.
"They were afraid the opposition will expose them ahead of the panchayat polls. Therefore, they announced the session be adjourned sine die," Singhdeo said.
