Realising that the geographical situations and climate in the two places were similar, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and visiting Bangladesh Agriculture Minister Begum Matia Choudhury said both the sides would benefit by mutual cooperation.
Choudhury said farmers in her country would be benefited
by the special paddy variety developed by Odisha-based Central Rice Research Institute (CRRI). This special paddy could be grown despite saline effect in water, she said during the discussion.
The Bangladesh Agriculture Minister also appreciated Odisha's dwarf variety of coconut plants and sheep of Ganjam and Bolangir districts. This apart, the integrated fish culture of the state could be of great help for the fishing community of Bangladesh, she told the chief minister, according to an official release.
