Odisha emerging as manufacturing hub, says Patnaik

Noting that Odisha has attracted business investment promises worth USD 24 billion this year, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today the state is fast emerging as a manufacturing hub on the East Coast of India and is among the fastest growing economies of the country.
He said this while addressing the Ambassadors, High Commissioners and senior members of Diplomatic Corps during the "Ambassadors' Meet" here, attended by 25 countries and the European Union.
Patnaik stated that over the last decade and a half, Odisha has strived hard to create vital social, economic and industrial infrastructure.
The state has undertaken crucial reforms in various sectors and improved governance, strengthened institutions and streamlined regulatory framework, he said, according to a release.
He said the state is leveraging technology in a big way and the integration of business approvals with eBiZ platform and GIS-based land information system,.
The Chief Minister mentioned that the World Bank in its Business Reforms Report, 2015 has acknowledged Odisha's efforts for creating a conducive business environment with fast paced reforms and has recognised the state as an 'Aspiring Leader'.

Owing to a favourable business climate, Odisha secured about USD 11 billion investment commitments during 'Make in India' Week held in February, 2016 in Mumbai and USD 13 billion at the Bangalore 'Investors' Meet' held in August, 2016, the statement said.
He added that the state has formulated Odisha Industrial Development Plan - Vision 2025 to sustain the high growth trajectory, which envisages additional investments of over USD 35 billion and creation of additional employment of three million.
Patnaik invited the participating Ambassadors, High Commissioners and senior members of the Diplomatic Corps to Bhubaneswar along with their business delegations to participate in the 'Make in Odisha Conclave' being organised by Odisha in collaboration with the Centre from November 30 to December 2, 2016, the statement added.
