The Odisha government on Thursday sought cooperation from industries to meet its target of producing 100 mtpa steel by 2030.
The state has 47 steel plants with a total installed capacity of 32.24 million tonne per annum (mtpa).
"We have told the steel industries that all facilities be provided for early implementation of projects," Industries Minister D S Mishra said, after an interactive session with the executives of more than 60 steel-manufacturing companies.
Stating that transportation of raw materials was the main challenge towards achieving the goal by 2030, Mishra said, "We need to expand rail, road and port facilities in order to meet the goal. Both steel industries, state government and the Union government need to work in tandem."
